Purpose

Hook suspension (block clip) is one of the key elements of any crane because it performs the function of a gripping body: various lifting devices are hung on the suspension hook.

Design

Structurally, the hook suspension consists of a crane hook, hinged between the cheeks of the suspension with the help of a traverse and blocks resting on a fixed axle.

Hook is a universal gripping tool that is widely used as a working body of a lifting mechanism as independent lifting devices (cranes), end elements of slings and other lifting devices. The hook suspension of the crane is shown in fig. 1.7.

To prevent spontaneous loss of the removable device of the load gripping device from the mouth of the hook, it is equipped with a locking device.

Such devices are not supplied with hooks of portal cranes operating in seaports; cranes transporting molten metal or liquid slag, as well as hooks on which the load is hung using flexible load gripping devices. Safety locking devices can be made in the form of spring-loaded or self-lowering latches, which prevent the detachable gripping device from falling out inadvertently. Safety devices (Fig. 1.8) must be equipped without fail with hooks of cranes working on installation or when transporting goods in containers, buckets and other containers, as well as when working with rigid slings, grabs.

The hook suspension consists of two side cheeks interconnected by spacer tubes and tie bolts. In the upper part of the cheeks, one or more rope blocks rotate on an axle fixed with the help of crossbars. On some cranes, to ensure a minimum suspension length, a hook with a long shank is used, which is attached directly to the axis of the blocks. Such a suspension is called shortened. On the lower part of the suspension on the traverse, a cargo hook is fixed with a nut. The traverse can freely rotate in the holes of the side cheeks. The hook mounted on ball bearings, in addition to rotation around the axis, can also swing along with the traverse, which facilitates slinging and orientation of loads. Depending on the number of axles, hook suspensions are one-, two- and three-axle (Fig.).

Distinguish between one-horned and two-horned cargo hooks. They are made by forging or stamping from mild steel 20, which eliminates the sudden destruction of the hook.

On the load hook, the number of the hook according to the state standard, the trademark, the factory number of the hook, the name of the supplier plant, the melt number, the year of manufacture are indicated. It is impossible to install a hook on a crane without marking.

Hooks are rejected if:

the hook does not rotate on the traverse;

hook horn bent;

wear of the hook in the throat exceeds 10%;

There is no OTK stamp;

There are cracks.

The hook suspension of load-lifting cranes is a very important unit, therefore, during the operation of the crane, it is necessary to constantly monitor its condition. At each inspection, it is imperative to check the serviceability of the cheeks, blocks, traverse, hook, nut, axles and ropes.

How to choose cargo: steel ropes, welded chains, lamellar chains, hemp and cotton ropes.

Steel ropes, welded and plate chains are used as flexible traction elements. Their choice depends on the purpose, operating conditions, mode of operation and special requirements.

The industry produces steel wire ropes of various types, differing in design, the nature and direction of the lay, and the size of the wires.

Determining the force in the rope. According to the rules of Gosgortekhnadzor, the ropes are selected according to the breaking force S razr specified in the standard or factory certificate, based on the ratio:

S res ≥ S ma x ∙ n ,

where n is the safety factor, depending on the operating mode of the crane.

The greatest (maximum) tension of the traction branch of the rope, N, is calculated by the formula.

In order to use a crane to move the load to the place you need, you first need to grab it and securely fix it. It is for this purpose that the hook suspension of the crane is used. In fact, it is a connecting element between the cable and the crane hook.

The design of all types of crane suspensions is similar. The main elements are the following:

  • "Cheeks" and traverses with a hook connect bypass blocks;
  • The "cheeks" themselves are connected using special separation tubes;
  • The axis on which the "cheeks" rotate is fastened with the help of crossbars;
  • The pulleys are fixed in the upper part of the "cheeks";
  • The traverse is placed next to the suspension base;
  • The load hook is attached directly to the traverse using a special nut.

When the traverse rotates in the side "cheeks", this guarantees the free movement of the hook.

Types of hook hangers

There are several criteria by which pendants can be divided into groups.
Number of axles

  • uniaxial
  • Biaxial - the design of such a suspension includes 2 axles and 2 "cheeks". The latter are bolted together. The hook rests on a traverse and, through a ball bearing, is mounted on blocks. The hook begins to rotate relative to the "cheeks" and the suspension. The bearing is placed in such a way that moisture and dust do not penetrate into it. An important point: the suspension with 2 axles can rotate around the vertical axis. The safety of such a maneuver is provided by a special lock.
  • Triaxial - in fact, they are a two-axle suspension, which is complemented by another clip, consisting of 2 "cheeks". She joins using the "finger" and "earrings".

Hook size
Another important parameter to consider when choosing a pendant is its size. There are 2 types:

Normal pendants- their design includes several blocks (bypass or pulley blocks) and bearings for rotation. The load hook is fixed with a nut.

The cheeks that fix the traverse are made of sheet steel. If the hook suspension is designed for more than 3 tons, then the hook is connected to the traverse by means of a ball bearing.

Short pendants- their main difference from normal ones is in the arrangement of pulley block blocks: they are placed on the same axis with the traverse. Hook hangers of shorter length are not equipped with "cheeks", which allows the use of such equipment in rooms where there are significant height restrictions, for example, in warehouses and factories. Shortened suspensions can only be equipped with an even number of blocks.

One of the main elements of the crane is the hook suspension, which serves to suspend the load on the crane's cargo rope. Crane suspension or hook suspension consists of movable bypass blocks and a cargo hook, interconnected by a traverse and cheeks.

The design of the hook suspension depends on the number of rope branches, the number and relative arrangement of blocks, the type of hook, etc.

Structurally, the hook suspension consists of a crane hook, hinged between the cheeks of the suspension with the help of a traverse and blocks resting on a fixed axle.

The hook shank passes through the hole in the traverse and is secured with a nut supported either on a spherical washer with a load capacity of up to 3.2t, or on a thrust ball bearing with a higher load capacity.
Bearings must be lubricated and protected from dirt. Thrust bearings for static load capacity are selected according to the design load, which exceeds the weight of the funeral load by 25%.

To prevent spontaneous unscrewing of the nut, it must be locked with a locking bar. Locking nuts of hooks with a lifting capacity of up to 10 tons due to the small size of the nut is allowed to be done using pins or locking bolts. The use of cotter pins is unacceptable in all cases.

The mass of hook hangers, when designing, is selected so that they fall without a load on the hook under the action of their own gravity, pulling out the cargo rope on which they are suspended.

According to the size and location of the blocks, two types of hook suspensions are distinguished:

  • Normal;
  • Shortened.
In normal suspensions, the traverse, on which the hook is fixed, is connected to the axis of the rope blocks with cheeks made of sheet or strip steel. The traverse has locking pads at the ends that prevent its axial movement, allowing it to rotate along with the hook relative to the horizontal axis.

The short suspension has a smaller height dimension, so that the load can be lifted to a slightly higher height compared to the normal suspension. A shortened suspension is used only with an even multiplicity of the chain hoist.

In shortened suspensions, pulley blocks are placed on elongated trunnions of the traverse. A shortened hook suspension allows you to lift the load to a slightly greater height, but it can only be used with an even multiplicity of the chain hoist.
The traverse is made of steels 10 or 45.

To prevent the rope from jumping out, the streams of the hook suspension blocks (as well as the head blocks of the crane booms) are protected by a casing made of sheet steel with a thickness of at least 3 mm.

One- and two-axle suspensions are used on cranes with a double-line reeving of a cargo rope. For greater carrying capacity with a four-string reeving, three-axle suspensions are installed. Two- and three-axle suspensions are most often used on tower cranes.

A two-axle hook suspension consists of two sheet cheeks, two axles on which blocks are installed on ball bearings, a traverse and a hook passed through it. The cheeks are pulled together by bolts with spacer tubes. The hook rests on the traverse through a thrust ball bearing and can rotate relative to the traverse and suspension cheeks.

This fastening allows you to turn the lifted load around the vertical axis of the suspension. The hook bearing is closed from dirt and moisture by a cover and rubber seals. A safety lock is installed on the hook, which, during operation, prevents the shackle of a removable load-handling device from arbitrarily exiting from the mouth of the hook.

A three-axle suspension consists of two parts: the main two-axle suspension and an additional clip designed to change the multiplicity of the chain hoist from two to four, attached to the main one with the help of an earring and a pin.

The additional clip also consists of two cheeks, between which a block is fixed on the axis in the center. In the lower part, an earring with a swivel in the middle is attached to the cheeks with the help of a finger. The cheeks of the clip are pulled together by bolts with spacer tubes. Sometimes additional weights are hung on the cheeks of hook hangers.

Hook suspension (crane hook suspension)- a part of the lifting mechanism, which is a system of hook and, which are joined to the traverse and cast.
