Interesting tricks with paper and more. Secrets of paper tricks Paper tricks

We bring to your attention 10 amazing magic tricks, experiments, or science shows that you can do with your own hands at home.
At your child's birthday party, weekend or vacation, make the most of your time and become the center of attention of many eyes! 🙂

An experienced organizer of scientific shows helped us in preparing the post - Professor Nicolas. He explained the principles behind a particular focus.

1 - Lava lamp

1. Surely many of you have seen a lamp that has a liquid inside that imitates hot lava. Looks magical.

2. Water is poured into sunflower oil and food coloring (red or blue) is added.

3. After that, we add effervescent aspirin to the vessel and observe a striking effect.

4. During the reaction, colored water rises and falls through the oil without mixing with it. And if you turn off the light and turn on the flashlight, the "real magic" will begin.

: “Water and oil have different densities, and also have the property of not mixing, no matter how we shake the bottle. When we add effervescent tablets inside the bottle, they dissolve in water and begin to release carbon dioxide and set the liquid in motion.”

Want to put on a real science show? More experiences can be found in the book.

2 - Experience with soda

5. Surely at home or in a nearby store there are several cans of soda for the holiday. Before you drink them, ask the guys the question: “What happens if you submerge soda cans in water?”
Drown? Will they swim? Depends on the soda.
Invite the children to guess in advance what will happen to a particular jar and conduct an experiment.

6. We take the cans and gently lower them into the water.

7. It turns out that despite the same volume, they have different weights. That is why some banks sink and others do not.

Commentary by Professor Nicolas: “All our cans have the same volume, but the mass of each can is different, which means that the density is different. What is density? This is the value of mass divided by volume. Since the volume of all cans is the same, the density will be higher for one of them, whose mass is greater.
Whether a jar will float in a container or sink depends on the ratio of its density to that of water. If the density of the can is less, then it will be on the surface, otherwise the can will go to the bottom.
But what makes a regular cola can denser (heavier) than a diet drink can?
It's all about the sugar! Unlike ordinary cola, where granulated sugar is used as a sweetener, a special sweetener is added to diet cola, which weighs much less. So how much sugar is in a typical soda can? The difference in mass between regular soda and its dietary counterpart will give us the answer!”

3 - Paper cover

Ask the audience a question: “What happens if you turn a glass of water over?” Of course it will spill! And if you press the paper to the glass and turn it over? The paper will fall and the water will still spill on the floor? Let's check.

10. Carefully cut out the paper.

11. Put on top of the glass.

12. And carefully turn the glass over. The paper has stuck to the glass, as if magnetized, and the water does not pour out. Miracles!

Commentary by Professor Nicolas: “Although it’s not so obvious, but in fact we are in the real ocean, only in this ocean there is not water, but air that presses on all objects, including you and me, we just got used to it to this pressure that we do not notice it at all. When we cover a glass of water with a piece of paper and turn it over, water presses on the sheet on one side, and air on the other side (from the very bottom)! The air pressure turned out to be greater than the pressure of the water in the glass, so the leaf does not fall.

4 - Soap Volcano

How to make a small volcano erupt at home?

14. You will need baking soda, vinegar, some dish detergent and cardboard.

16. Dilute vinegar in water, add washing liquid and tint everything with iodine.

17. We wrap everything with dark cardboard - this will be the “body” of the volcano. A pinch of soda falls into the glass, and the volcano begins to erupt.

Commentary by Professor Nicolas: “As a result of the interaction of vinegar with soda, a real chemical reaction occurs with the release of carbon dioxide. And liquid soap and dye, interacting with carbon dioxide, form a colored soap foam - that's the eruption.

5 - Candle pump

Can a candle change the laws of gravity and lift water up?

19. We put a candle on a saucer and light it.

20. Pour tinted water on a saucer.

21. Cover the candle with a glass. After a while, the water will be drawn into the glass against the laws of gravity.

Commentary by Professor Nicolas: What does the pump do? Changes pressure: increases (then water or air begins to “run away”) or, conversely, decreases (then gas or liquid begins to “arrive”). When we covered the burning candle with a glass, the candle went out, the air inside the glass cooled, and therefore the pressure decreased, so the water from the bowl began to be sucked in.

Games and experiments with water and fire are in the book "Experiments of Professor Nicolas".

6 - Water in the sieve

We continue to study the magical properties of water and surrounding objects. Ask someone present to put on a bandage and pour water through it. As we can see, it passes through the holes in the bandage without any difficulty.
Bet with others that you can make it so that water will not pass through the bandage without any additional tricks.

Commentary by Professor Nicolas: “Due to such a property of water as surface tension, water molecules want to be together all the time and it is not so easy to separate them (they are such wonderful girlfriends!). And if the size of the holes is small (as in our case), then the film does not tear even under the weight of water!”

7 - Diving bell

And to secure your honorary title of Water Mage and Master of the Elements, promise that you can deliver paper to the bottom of any ocean (or bath or even a basin) without soaking it.

26. We fold the sheet, put it in a glass so that it rests against its walls and does not slide down. Immerse the leaf in an inverted glass to the bottom of the tank.

27. Paper stays dry - water can't get to it! After you pull out the sheet - let the audience make sure that it is really dry.

Commentary by Professor Nicolas: “If you take a glass with a piece of paper inside and look closely at it, it seems that there is nothing but paper, but this is not so, there is air in it.
When we turn the glass upside down and lower it into the water, the air keeps the water from getting close to the paper, which is why it stays dry.

Tricks and conjurers at all times aroused genuine interest among the townsfolk. Even now, in the age of modern achievements and technologies, tricks are still the most interesting and exciting activity that many dream of learning.

Many tricks can be easily performed at home. These are card tricks, and with water, with a coin, with big money, using paper, a handkerchief, the disappearance of objects and other objects.

Technology of simple tricks

How to learn to do magic tricks with your own hands? Simply and easily. Learn the speed and dexterity of your hands to make a simple trick at home in a matter of minutes. The category of common tricks includes card tricks. These can be easily made at home. And no one will even have time to understand when you became a wizard.

card trick

One of these looks like this:

  • Take a deck of cards and have the person choose one. Of course, he shouldn't show it to you.
  • Then ask him to put it down the deck (you saw this bottom), then carefully shuffle the cards and start laying them out one by one on the table
  • When you see the one that used to be the last one, then the next one will be the one you are looking for.

Card tricks are for the most part a common trick. However, there are those for whom card entertainment options are not suitable. In this case, you can do other tricks.

With water

You can make a trick with water - this way you will surely surprise your viewers. In addition, this option is great for beginner wizards who seek to surprise.

For this you will need the following props:

  • flat plate
  • small coin
  • paper
  • cup
  • matches

At home, you need to perform this trick with caution.

  • Put a coin on a plate and pour water to cover the money
  • Next, you need to do the following: light the paper and throw it into the glass, then quickly turn the glass over and place it on a plate next to the coin
  • The water will collect in a glass, and you can take a coin out of the water trick without getting your hands wet.

There are a lot of tricks with water, and you can easily learn how to do them at home.

Items Disappearing

You can do at home and focus with the disappearance of objects. And it's not at all as difficult as it seems. You will need a coin for it.

  • Roll up your sleeves to convince the audience of the purity of your intentions.
  • Be sure to leave a small space between your hand and clothing. Only under this condition you can surprise guests with the disappearance of money
  • Next, raise your hands and carefully drop a coin into this slot - so, everyone will be subdued by a mysterious disappearance
  • The rest of the actions are at the discretion of the magician. So, you can "get" a coin from behind the ear. And few people realize that the main part is carried out literally with fingers

Learning disappearing objects tricks will help you learn how to work with only fingers, which will greatly improve your dexterity and allow you to expand your repertoire of magic tricks without cheating.

Focus with paper

You can also do a magic trick at home with a pen and paper. Alternatively, you can use paper money for it.

If the trick was carried out with money, the effect will be more interesting. The success of such a trick and whether you can do it directly depends on the quality of your training and manual dexterity.

You can also do this trick out of paper. Tear the sheet into several pieces, number each one up to 10, spread the leaves around the room, remembering where which number is hidden. After that, ask the guest to name any number from 1 to 10, and then bring him to where the hidden number lies.

With a handkerchief

Another trick can be done at home with money and a handkerchief. With it, you can make items disappear.

  • For it you will need 2 identical scarves that are sewn together along the edge.
  • Please note that there should be a cut between them - about 12 cm long. It should be made in the middle of one of them
  • The space between them will allow you to get a pocket in which objects from under the handkerchief will perfectly hide.

The main thing is to have time to do everything quickly. And then the audience will have the illusion that things are disappearing under the scarf.

Features and nuances

To learn how to do tricks, even the most diverse ones, it is not at all necessary to have a remarkable mind. It is enough to have tenacious fingers and dexterous hands. Of course, there are a number of tricks when a sharp mind is required.

If you want to impress others, becoming a magician is the best choice. Moreover, learning to do tricks is not so difficult.

For many children, the holidays are in full swing, which means it's time to play, play and play again. This is very important, because it is in the game that the child learns the world and receives the most important skills. Super Paper and Big Game Book for You and Me are just such a case.

Their author is Lydia Crook, a British artist and designer. Her favorite material for creativity is a regular sheet of paper. From it she cuts out paintings, posters, illustrations for books, collects three-dimensional figures. Such a minimalist approach helps to see the extraordinary in ordinary things.

Paper craft from Lydia Kruk

Superpaper is a book that will surprise anyone!

A bookmark, an endless postcard, a Mobius strip, a water bomb, a predictor of the future, a paper city, a relief painting... You won't believe it, but all this can be made from an ordinary sheet of paper.

All you need is scissors, glue, pencils, felt-tip pens, and the easy instructions from the Super Paper book.

Fold, cut, tear, bend, draw, and - a simple sheet of paper will turn into an unusual toy or a cool craft!

So, let's get down to paper magic.

A surprise awaits you right away. The first page of the book is mirrored.

Predicting the future

The surprises continue. You don't have to be a magician to predict the future. You can simply make a predictor of the future and guess the desires of friends.

When the paper predictor is ready, you can start the game. Here is the instruction.

1. Ask your friend to choose a color.

2. Spell this color, opening the predictor for each letter (for example, BLUE - five letters, so we open it like this: horizontally, vertically, horizontally, vertically, horizontally).

3. Now ask your friend to choose a number from 1 to 8.

4. Count up to this number by opening the predictor as described above.

5. Ask a friend to choose a different number. Repeat step 4.

6. Ask a friend to ask the fortune teller a question. Something like: "Will I be a traveler when I grow up?"

7. For the last time, ask your friend to choose one of the numbers he sees.

8. Open the fold under this number and read the prediction to your friend!

We make a magic ring, an endless postcard and a paper city

Children love to carve. Especially if the result is something unexpected. There are many tasks in the book that require scissors to complete. They also develop spatial thinking. For example, children are invited to make a magic ring - and it turns out to be a Möbius strip.

But with such a craft - an endless postcard - you can easily surprise your friends. It has no beginning, no end, no matter how you twist it!

The book also contains simpler, traditional tasks with blanks, for example, cut out paper or finger puppets, glue a rose or a spinning top, or you can assemble a real paper city.

Games for you and me

Lydia Crook's second book, The Big Book of Games for You and Me, is based on a different idea: it is designed for two players at once. You can play with a friend or with a parent.

Under the cover you will find fun games for speed and quick wit, insidious puzzles and unusual creative tasks.

The book has an interesting structure. To play with it, you will not need anything other than a pencil and felt-tip pens.

The book will need to be rotated depending on how the text is written. In some games, you will sit next to each other. In others - opposite each other, putting the book between them. In some games, you will have to hold the "screen" page vertically: it will close the playing fields, and you will not be able to look at each other.

Who is faster, and who is the master of the word?

This book not only teaches to play in pairs, compete, but also develops useful skills in children.

Who is faster and more attentive? This will help to find out such games in which you need to find differences, pairs of identical objects and small details in the big picture.

For example, children will like the game "Treasure Hunt". The rules are simple: speed players look for certain treasure items in the pictures. As soon as you see the item, you need to say: “The treasure has been found!” The winner is the one who quickly found all the items.

Could you find a camera and a clothespin in this picture?

Who will be smart and win in logic games? To develop these skills, there are many other fun things in the book - cells, hexagons, pipelines, sprouts ...

Here, for example, the game "Sprouts". Players take turns connecting the dots with lines, while the lines cannot intersect, and only three lines can emanate from each point. Try to play with your child. It's really exciting.

Who draws better? To find out, you can draw a picture together, come up with a mandala, turn a squiggle into a drawing, repeat a friend’s picture according to words, and draw a portrait without looking at the paper.

Perfect match. This game is a great idea for unusual drawing. Draw a portrait of your opponent. In this case, you can only look at the person. You can't look at the picture!

Say what do you see? Another interesting drawing idea. The essence of the game - one player makes a drawing, and the second must repeat it according to the description. Then the roles change.

Which one of you is the master of the word? Do you want to know? Then come up with a funny story, find the words in the squares, remember the words at speed, or fill out the category table.

The Big Book of Games for You and Me will tell you a lot of games that you can play even when the book is over. All you need is a sheet of paper, two pencils and a cheerful mood. For friends, for brothers and sisters, for classmates, for large companies - wherever the child is not alone, this book will come in handy!

I was lucky to watch a program about magicians over the weekend. And so it became interesting, how do they do this? They cut the rope, and then it sticks together, or they cut the paper, and then it turns into a blank sheet. It turns out that there is no magic here - only sleight of hand

Today I will reveal the secrets of several tricks that are done with paper.

Color paper transformations

The magician shows two sheets of paper: on one side - green, on the other - white. Then he folds them in half: one vertically and the other horizontally, and folds them with one, for example, white side out. The horizontal sheet is inserted into the vertical one, after which both sheets are turned out so that the horizontal one is outside. Both are now green. Without pulling out a vertical sheet, it advances it from one end to the other. To the surprise of the audience, he turned himself out and turned white from green.

Focus Secret: A sheet of paper that is folded vertically has a horizontal slit in the center. Inserting a sheet folded horizontally into a sheet folded vertically, pass half of it through the slit outward. If now turn both sheets in the opposite direction, then in a horizontally folded sheet, the halves of the vertical one will look in different directions. Therefore, the sheet changes color if you push its other half.

growing together

Take a paper tape from the table, cut off a strip about 40 cm long and, showing the audience, tear it in half. Putting these halves together, again tear them in half and so on until a stack of paper squares remains in your hands. Now, after rubbing pieces of paper between your fingers, you suddenly unfold a single strip of paper in front of the audience.

Focus Secret: take two identical sheets of newsprint, lay them on top of each other and cut out two identical strips about 3 cm wide and about 40 cm long. Fold one of them like an accordion so that you get a 3 x 3 cm square and press it well. Glue one end of the accordion to the end of the second paper strip. The strip prepared in this way should lie unnoticed on the table among the rest of the props. Now take a piece of newspaper and, holding it over the table, cut off a strip of the same size. When she falls on the table, imperceptibly for the audience, take not her, but the one that was prepared in advance for the trick. This strip must be taken from the table so that the harmonica is between the thumb and forefinger.

When tearing the strip, you must lay the pieces carefully on top of each other, making sure that the harmonica is always facing you, and the pieces of paper - to the audience. When the pieces are the same size as the harmonica, discreetly turn it towards the audience and unfold it. Then, crumpling the strip along with the pieces of paper held by your thumb and forefinger, throw the wad on the table and show the audience that you have nothing left in your hands.

paper garland

To make a garland, you will need two newspapers. First we tear the newspaper in half, and then each half again in half. From the resulting eight quarters, we roll up the roll, with each sheet overlapping the other with an overlap of one third or a quarter of the length. We tear the roll in the middle to half its diameter, and then we make two longitudinal tears. Each is about a third of the length.

The result is an X-shaped gap. We bend the roll in half with a transverse gap upwards, grab the whole paper (the inner layer of the roll) on the fold and begin to pull. This is where the roll turns into a garland.

Envelope and paper tape

The magician takes an empty sealed envelope from the table and opens it with scissors on both sides, then inserts a narrow sheet of colored paper into it; it should appear both on the left and on the right side. After that, the magician cuts the envelope together with the paper from the bottom up into two identical parts, and again shows the sheet - it is whole!

Focus Secret: The envelope must be pre-cut in two places. It is not visible from the opposite side. A strip of colored paper is threaded through these holes. At the same time, its middle part remains outside. When you cut the envelope, the scissors must naturally pass between the envelope and the paper.

Connecting 2 paper clips with a paper bill

You show the audience two paper clips and a dollar bill. Then fold the bill in three and secure the folds in place with paper clips. Next, you begin to slowly stretch the folded bill, and the paper clips move closer and closer to each other. With a sharp jerk, you complete the stretch, the paper clips fly off the bill and fall onto the table, connected in a chain of two links!

Focus Secret: the trick is obtained almost automatically. It depends entirely on the correct placement of the staples. Rehearse it until you can put the paper clips where you want them, quickly and carefully, so that the audience does not have time to notice how it is done, and therefore cannot repeat it.

  1. First, you hold the bill unfolded with both hands.
  2. Fold one third of the bill to the right as shown.
  3. Secure the fold by putting on a paperclip, and put it on completely, until it stops.
  4. The paper clip should be located at the very edge of the fold, exactly above the number indicating the denomination of the bill.
  5. Turn the back of the bill towards you, but do not turn it upside down, the paper clip should still be on top.
  6. Fold the left side of the bill to the right as shown.
  7. Put another paperclip on top of the fold, which will hold the second fold and only the second: you need to fasten only this fold with the main part of the bill.
  8. Again, the paperclip should be located at the edge of the bill above the number indicating its value, as shown in the figure.
  9. If both paper clips are placed correctly, then the bill should look like the one shown in the picture.
  10. Grasp both edges of the bill near the top and begin to stretch it. The bill will begin to unfold, and the paper clips will move towards each other, remaining on the bill.
  11. The bill will unfold completely, and the paper clips will fall on the table, connected together!

This trick looks especially impressive if you use large paper clips, which are both longer and wider than usual - in this case it is easy to see how they interlock together. If the paper clips are ordinary, then the jerk should not be strong, otherwise they will fly off the edge of the table and fall to the floor - the effect will not be the same.

Guess the magic number. This is a simple trick in which the magician asks the person to do some simple math, which leads them to pretty much the same answer every time. Here is what you should tell the viewer:

  • "Think of any number between 2 and 10."
  • "Multiply it by 9."
  • Add the first digit of this number to the second.
  • "Subtract 4 from the result."
  • "Remember the new number - it's your secret number!"
  • “Now guess the letter of the alphabet corresponding to this number. That is, if you get 1, then this is the letter A; 2 - the letter B and so on.
  • "Think of a European country that starts with that letter."
  • "Think of a large animal for the 3rd letter of this country."
    • When the viewer has followed all your instructions, simply say, "I know what you're thinking... it's the number 5 and the rhino in Denmark!" This should work every time.
  • Guess the magic vegetable. This simple trick almost always works. All you need is pieces of paper, pens, and a few trusting onlookers. To begin, put one sheet of paper labeled "cucumber" in your left pocket, and the other, labeled "tomato" in your right pocket. Remember where you put each of the sheets. You are ready to start the focus:

    • First, distribute paper and pens to all interested viewers.
    • Have them do some simple math, like multiplying 2 by 2, dividing 10 by 5, adding 3 and 3, and so on. You can say that this is a preparatory stage before reading thoughts.
    • Then say: “Quickly write the name of the vegetable!” Make sure people do it as quickly as possible; don't let anyone think long.
    • Call a random viewer and ask them to name the recorded name of the vegetable.
    • If he calls "cucumber," pull out the piece of paper labeled "cucumber" from your left pocket. If he calls "tomato", pull out a piece of paper with the inscription "tomato" from the right pocket. Tell the audience that you have such a developed mind reading ability that you were able to predict what they would write before the actual trick began.
    • People in Russia choose one of these vegetables most of the time. If the person doesn't name one of those two vegetables, then you'll have to quickly move on to another trick! If you live in another country with other common vegetables, you will have to look for your own "magic vegetable".
  • Guess the name of a famous person. This is a fairly simple trick, but may take a little time. All you need is a hat, about 10 spectators, a pen, something to write your prediction on, and as many sheets of paper as there will be in attendance. Here is what you should do:

    • Ask an audience member to name a celebrity.
    • Write the first name on a piece of paper and throw it into the hat.
    • Ask the others to name famous people.
    • Pretend you are writing down each name, when in reality you will only write down the first name over and over again. This is what practice is for.
    • When the hat is full, ask someone in the audience to help you.
    • Say that you can predict what name he will pull out of the hat. Of course, you will predict the first name. Write it on a board for everyone to see.
    • Ask the spectator to take any piece of paper out of the hat. All viewers will see that the first name is written there and, lo and behold, you made the correct prediction!
